the little things
Yesterday, I got two lovely letters from two lovely friends. They were such an encouragement. And their arrivals were so perfectly timed. (The timing part was not up to them. I give Jesus total credit.)
With one letter, my friend included a little sheet of paper with 1 John 3:18-20 on it. I was reading that passage in my Bible this morning as well as the surrounding verses, trying to let it seep...
ok.
i’m going to just try and fill my head with happy things. the end.
You know, it’s been said that we just don’t recognize the significant moments in...

1 John 3:9
No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God.
Does God begin a work in the soul and leave it unperfected? We cannot believe...

communication
it is that important.
today's goal
to not freak out. to not worry. to pray before anything else.
two questions
Exactly a week I’ve been home, and already I’ve faced more drama than I have in the last several months. Not stage drama, the kind I actually enjoy, no. More like real life drama. The sucky kind.
I just miss how things used to be.
And I think that if everyone approached their relationships with the question “How can I give?” instead of “How can I get?” our...
that's all
Loving is a difficult job. Especially difficult when your love is twisted. When the recipient of your love is taking everything you do as the opposite of what it is meant to be. Like everything you do to love them is turned into another reason for them to be the victim.
But, I still keep trying. I still try to show her just how much I love her. I still try to show her that no matter how much she...
Joy and Strength
It is a good thing to have fixed seasons for lifting up the heart to God, not merely the appointed hours of prayer, but a momentary act before and after meals, beginning any occupation, entering into society, leaving the house, etc. Especially it is a help to make such brief acts after having said or done anything either wrong or foolish, after any trifling vexation or disappointment, when the...

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
BITTERSWEET
i don’t think i do too well with massive change. little change? i love little change. i love new clothes and new classes and new friends. but, big change? changing schools, moving… i’m not real crazy about those kinds of changes.
big change is usually a bittersweet thing. and now is not an exception. the reasons i’m leaving still exist and are quite valid. but, those...

my question
is… what is this world coming to?
i guess i have always been aware of the world’s great need for Jesus. i’ve known it because people say it. but, until now, never before have i been so acutely aware of the world’s need or my own need for Jesus.
sin is running rampant. nature is out of control. disasters of every kind are daily news.
earthquakes. floods. an oil spill....
i suppose
i suppose there just comes points in one’s life when one does not know what one is doing. if one’s decisions are the right decisions. if the motives are right. if the timing is right. if the reasons are right. and i suppose that’s where i am right now. and it blows.
